Join Us for the Fray

Welcome New York Times Readers! Along with the Republicans the Experimental Party will be in your backyard for the next few weeks.

To paraphrase the old real estate adage, the three most important words in the early 21st century are: context, context, and context. But unlike the G.O.P. we will be clarifying their misdirected models for American society and culture. Read their lips. Understand the meaning behind their words.

Critical Notion: separate "culture imperatives" from election politics. Republicans, in their effort to differentiate themselves from the Democrats, are creating cultural flash points (like gay marriage and "dirty" artists) to woo voters. Many working class people are actually voting against their best economic interests because the Republicans offer up these cultural differences as core election points.

Yet, debating these notions does nothing to increase our wellbeing as a country and as individuals. We hold these truths self-evident: sound economic planning and strong and appropriate ties to the rest of the world are the keystones in American government. This is the responsibility of our elected officials, not telling us how to live our lives (especially when these lifestyles hurt no one). This is a Party deflection.

Pure and simple idea: Are we better off economically and globally than we were four years ago? We're a smart electorate. We know a chad flapping in the breeze.

Join us as we peel away the rhetoric from the walls of Madison Square Garden.

Its impossible to imagine that career generals failed to realize we would still be mired in armed conflict in Iraq so close to Election Day. It was well understood then, and not just by the military. This administration planned the war to drag on, down to the last GI contribution to an acceptable death toll. Being “at war” is crucial to the re-election strategy. For the guru’s of GOP strategy, truly war is peace.
